Diese Quelle bildet die Grundlage der vorliegenden Arbeit, um so exemplarisch den Topos des Märtyrerkultes in shape der Märtyrerliteratur zu untersuchen.

Bevor es jedoch media in res geht, zuvor in Kapitel 2, einen kurzen Abriss des historischen Kontexts der Quelle, der Christenverfolgung unter Kaiser Decius und Kaiser Valerian, sodann eine Einordnung des literarischen Genus der vorliegenden Quelle im Speziellen bzw. der Märtyrerberichte im Allgemeinen. In Kapitel three folgt dann eine grundsätzliche formal-strukturelle und inhaltliche examine der Quelle in der ebenfalls Intension und Wirkung der Quelle eruiert wird. Abschließend folgt in Kapitel four ein knappes Fazit.
